In One Place & Everywhere
The City
The Challenge
In addition, police were fielding ongoing complaints from residents about speeding on local streets. They wanted a solution that could slow vehicles down and then be moved and relocated as new speed issues arose. They had used portable speed signs from a popular manufacturer in the past but had experienced multiple issues with the signs including inadequate technical support and quick battery drainage.
It was important to the Greer PD to work with a company that could walk them through the process and offer ongoing support to help them navigate the backend and deal with any potential challenges.
The Solution
One of the signs was mounted permanently in the downtown gateway area. The second sign is rotated to different residential areas based on complaints. A simple universal mounting bracket lets the Greer PD mount the same sign at many different locations quickly and easily.
The Benefits
They particularly like the way data can be viewed remotely and aggregated into different reports. They use stealth mode to gather baseline data without drivers seeing their speed displayed. With the SafePace Cloud, they are able to view data and change sign settings instantly from anywhere with wifi.
“We’re really happy with the signs,” said Sergeant Randle Ballenger of the Greer PD. “We plan to order more of them. [Traffic Logix has been a] fantastic company to work with. I love calling in and feeling like I’m talking to someone who knows me and has spoken to me before. [We’ve received] great customer support with the tech team.”
The Greer Chief of Police is pleased with the signs as well, as is the City Administrator. For Greer, streets are safer downtown and throughout the city thanks to the EV11 signs from Traffic Logix.
