Finally Something Works
The Community
The Challenge
Speeding is the number one complaint that the HOA receives. When speeds were tracked, many vehicles were found to be going over 35 mph despite the 25 mph posted limit. For the past 6 years, Island Estates has tried many tactics to reduce speeds. They ran awareness campaigns, installed radar signs, printed the speed limit on entrance passes, and tried verbal reminders from the entrance security guard. But speeding issues continued.
Island Estates needed a way to find out who was speeding so that they could stop dangerous driving and better protect their community.
The Solution
The Guardian cameras captures images of speeding vehicles. Warnings are then automatically sent out to warn speed violators. The SafePace Cloud gives the board instant access to speed data on who, where, and when speeding is occurring. Island Estates installed 3 camera systems to help them get control of the speeding that was threatening the tranquility of their community.
The Benefits
Maximum speeds were reduced by approximately 10 mph while the number of violations went down from 41% to only 11%. Drivers who continually violate speed limits are receiving further penalties including having the entry gate disabled so that they have to wait to enter at the main gate.
The HOA has found the system easy to use with its user-friendly interface, instant access to data, and excellent back-end support. Using the customized templates, Island Estates was able to design a warning that fit with their community’s look and feel and included the data they wanted drivers to see. The SafePace Cloud gives them remote access to their data as well as the ability to manage their cameras at the touch of a button.
Todd Buch, Board Member and Security Commission Chairperson, said “You can’t compare these cameras to anything we’ve used in the past. Nothing else worked and this does everything. It solved all our problems.”
Island Estates has extolled the amazing support they have received from Traffic Logix in addition to how well the cameras work to protect their roads.
“I highly recommend this product series to many other communities,” said Mr. Buch. “It is simply fantastic.”
