Pleasant View, UT sees immediate results with radar signs.
All You See is Brakelights, Pleasant View City, UT.
A small Utah city addresses speed concerns with signs that get them immediate results.
The Challenge
Pleasant View City enjoys beautiful mountain views and steep hilly roads, which offer great views but also create serious speeding concerns. Residents were requesting radar signs to slow drivers down on their roads but the city needed a solution that would not only slow speeders down, but could be used at multiple locations to maximize usage and minimize cost.
The Solution
The city discovered SafePace signs and uses them to alert drivers and remind them to slow down and watch their speeds, avoiding dangerous collisions on local roads.
They purchased five radar speed signs, which are being used to alert drivers to their speeds and encourage safer driving. The signs show drivers their speed and are programmed to flash the message “slow down” to drivers who are going excessively fast.
The signs are being used along with the portable Cruiser trailer, which allows the city to deploy them on different streets as needed. The versatile trailers deploy in less than 3 minutes and can be parked in any position for ease of use, rotating signs to face traffic.
The signs and trailers were purchased by a grant from the Department of Public Safety.
The Benefits
Ryan M. Hadley, the Chief of Police in Pleasant View noted “You watch traffic come across the signs and when it flashes their speed, all you see is brake lights. You know they work, you know they slow them down.”
He also noted that people who have the signs in their neighborhoods have commented on how helpful they are in returning safety to their streets.
For Pleasant View, steep hilly roads are now a lot safer, thanks to SafePace signs from Traffic Logix.
