A Sustainable Traffic Plan
The Client
The Challenge
The program needed another speed sign to add to the program. However, they wanted an option with affordable cloud subscriptions. This would help make the program more sustainable for goHunterdon and would also offer a more sustainable choice for municipalities that wanted to purchase signs for their streets after their speed study was over.
The Solution
The sign is used in stealth mode to gather baseline data for several weeks before speeds are displayed. In the following weeks, the Evolution 12 shows drivers their speed in bright MUTCD approved 12” digits. The sign includes a full year of free cloud service, with a low annual fee in following years.
The Evolution 12 is a popular choice for cities looking for a compact, affordable sign that still meets MUTCD standards. It shows a static Your Speed message along with vehicle speed in bright dual colored LED digits. The sign is a lightweight, portable solution that can be powered by AC, battery, or solar energy. It can be used with a universal mounting bracket to mount at multiple locations and is also compatible with a trailer, sign dolly, and hitch for additional multi-location use options.
The Benefits
“The Cloud subscription cost is substantially lower than [the] competitor,” said Tara Shepherd, the Executive Director at goHunterdon. “That makes your product a more sustainable choice for us and for any of the municipalities that may wish to purchase a unit….in their community.”
goHunterdon uses the SafePace Cloud to collect data and manage the signs and finds it very user friendly and intuitive to use. They collect pre and post data at each location and have been finding that the signs really do slow cars down.
They have been receiving encouraging feedback from municipalities where the Evolution sign has been mounted.
“The sign has a more impressive look [than others we’ve used,] said Ms. Shepherd. “And the Cloud subscription cost was a major factor in our decision to purchase [the Evolution] from Traffic Logix.”
